Let’s face it: the books you gravitate toward say a lot about you. Whether you’re a hopeless romantic or a serial thriller devourer, your favorite genre might just reveal your secret personality traits.
1. Literary Fiction
You’re a deep thinker who feels everything intensely, even if you don’t always show it. You crave meaning, beauty, and emotional depth. You probably overanalyze conversations, keep a journal (or ten), and find comfort in melancholic things. People may call you quiet, but your mind never is.
2. Mystery/Thriller
You trust no one. You analyze every detail and probably guess the twist halfway through, but enjoy it anyway. You’re drawn to the thrill of the chase, and you secretly wish you could solve real crimes.
3. Romance
You’re a softie with a tough shell. You believe love is the point of everything, even when it’s messy. You’re emotionally attuned, generous with your heart, and probably a bit of a daydreamer. You fall fast (for people, aesthetics, songs), and you secretly believe in fate (even if you pretend you don’t).
4. Fantasy
You’re imaginative, idealistic, and a natural escapist. You dream big, think in symbols, and probably grew up reading under the covers. You’re loyal to a fault and often root for the underdog.
5. Science Fiction
You ask the big questions: What if? Why not? You love exploring the future, space, and technology, and you probably have a spreadsheet somewhere just for fun.
6. Historical Fiction
You romanticize the past but also want to understand it. You appreciate rich detail, complex characters, and the drama of real history. You’re detail-oriented, thoughtful, and probably a little romantic about things like handwritten letters and old maps. You have an old soul, even if you’re chronically online. You’re the friend who always wins trivia night.
7. Horror
You enjoy being scared… but only when you’re in control. You have a dark sense of humor, a fascination with the macabre, and probably know a little too much about serial killers.
8. Nonfiction
You crave truth, knowledge, and understanding. Whether it’s memoirs, essays, or investigative reporting, you’re love to learn. You’re the person who starts sentences with, “I read this thing the other day…”
