You made it.
Another day, another dollar,
another dinner you eat standing at the sink
because the table is too much work.
You water the plant that died last week
out of habit,
pull your jacket tight
like the hug you never got.
Someone on the radio says,
“Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
Cool.
She loves sleeping.
She loves disappearing.
She loves watching reruns of sitcoms
where everyone hugs at the end.
She loves the sound of rain on the roof
because it means no one expects her to go outside.
She never answers her texts
because what is there to say
except yes, I’m still here.
